The Earthroom is an outdoor classroom space for Manitou Elementary School District 14 in Colorado. The concept is based on the Theater in the Round, and the Golden Ratio was used to calculate the layout. Composed of colored and textured concrete, the location had a fairly steep grade, so some retaining walls were added to lessen the grade and act as additional seating areas. Earthroom is used for all classes throughout the day, teachers will reserve the space to use for an hour of the class a few days a week. Other uses are performances and faculty meetings.
