What a wonderful artist Michelle is! After meeting with us initially to better understand what we had in mind for the transom window, she prepared several artist drawings with suggested themes. Every one was a possibility that we could have been pleased with. With her talent it made it difficult to decide. We settled on one, then changed to another, and finally after incorporating elements from more than one, and with further changes and additions we finally settled on what has become a work of art in the 6' wide arched transom window above our 8' front doors. It incorporates elements of the family's heritage with a truly wonderful rondel at it's center.
This fused glass table top was commissioned as part of an interior design plan for a yacht that included two table tops, cabinet inserts, a dining coffer, light sconces and light panels. The fused glass table top is 17" x 17" and was installed in a teak wood table frame lit from underneath with LED lighting.
Raked glass provides the movement of the pieces. Glass was heated to 1700 degrees and at that temperature the surface was raked to create swirls and eddies that gave the feel of water flowing in the open ocean. The raked glass was fused with areas of single tone glass and dichroic glass to create the final table tops.
The dimensions of the glass table tops are 17" square and will be installed in a custom built table frame with LED lighting in the base.
