Pennsylvania Spice Box (Jewelry Box)
One of my favorite things to build, this piece takes the form of a traditional spice box. Used extensively throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, these lockable boxes served the rather utilitarian function of storing a homeowners spices and powdered cooking goods. While certainly out of date with regards to storing spices, many contemporary homeowners find this form very useful for storing jewelry or writing instruments.
