This pin wall display was recently installed at a corporate show booth in the Hynes Auditorium. Our CNC router was used to precisely drill 1,698 holes in two laminated sheets of PVC. The sheets are separated by 5" and each hole must line up exactly with the hole in the sheet behind it. We also threaded all of the aluminum rods, 3,396 tapping operations in all.
Design and assembly was done by our customer, an exhibit and display shop in Somerville Ma.
In case you were wondering. Our CNC machine can bore 1,698 holes in under an hour. Threading 3,396 tube ends (with a tapping head) takes about three days, and is VERY boring.
Fun project, and the clients had a blast with it.
