~ Reclaimed 1890s Oak Lath Artwork "Worn Leather – Lake Clarke" ~
.. like its predecessor "Worn Leather" ...the "Lake Clarke" version conjures up the heady scent of a saddle shop... soft, supple work gloves... and grandpa's old high backed desk chair… but it is also reminiscent of the rich buttery colors found on the bucket seats of a luxury sports car or designer handbag.
Colors intermingle and evolve.
Even the frame is multicolored and very attractive.
NOTE: If you would prefer a solid stain frame color vs the multicolored... no problem! ... just please let me know.
You may choose whatever stain color works best for you.
"Worn Leather – Lake Clarke" is made from oak lath rescued from an 1890s home undergoing renovations in the historic Midtown district in Springfield, MO.
The original rough sawn edges – along with various thicknesses - many quite uneven – along with the criss- cross saw marks and nails holes still remain - evidence of the old building techniques used back in the day.
Stain takes to old wood differently than it might on newer wood.
Lath especially seems to take its time absorbing the pigments into its grain, like it wants to pause and ponder just how much color it is willing to accept... nothing more, nothing less.
I begin the process imagining one color and the lath will almost always outperform my expectations.
The resulting color is always a treat to see - duskier and more subtle - like worn leather.
If you are a fan of our original "Worn Leather" you might have noticed that we've refreshed its look and updated its colors.
This is necessary from time to time to feature the newest shades of stain that have replaced those that have been discontinued.
NOTE: Many of the stain colors you see in the photos will be updated on "Worn Leather Lake Clarke" as well. Please let me know if there are colors you'd like me to update or leave closer to what you see in the photos.
~ Instead of the bright blue we could exchange it for a NAVY BLUE
~ Instead of the cranberry color we could exchange it for a more RED
~ The discontinued yellow stain has been replaced with a YELLOW paint glaze technique
~ The discontinued driftwood gray has been refreshed with a slighter DARKER GRAY with a WHITE PICKLING technique
~ The discontinued variety of light, medium and dark brown stains have been updated as well.

NOTE: Our Reclaimed Wood Artwork is One-of-a-Kind. While each piece will be carefully handmade using the same varieties of reclaimed woods… finished in the same or similar stain and paint colors and techniques...it is virtually impossible to replicate two different pieces of this artwork to look exactly alike.
The reclaimed wood found in our artwork may contain some or all of the following: the original surface saw cuts, wood knots and holes, uneven thicknesses, notches, scraps, crevices, rust stains, nail holes, discolorations and other imperfections or blemishes. Each will be examined on an individual basis by the Seller for its integrity and solidness – and/or may be filled with wood filler, hand sanded to remove splinters or rough patches or left alone to create textural interest.
These characteristics are what make each piece of artwork unique and should not be considered a defect.
However, if one of these features is a concern - please speak to the Seller prior to ordering or at the beginning the project to avoid delays.
