Redware plate of red earthenware with white slip. This plate celebrates a family's 300 years in the United States. Approximately 30 were made and are 7 1/2" in diameter.
Decorated using the sgraffito technique - scratching through the white slip to reveal the red clay beneath. Yellow coloring is from transparent glaze emulating yellowish colors of antique redware plates. Project began with an idea and the request for a mare and foal to be depicted. This plate includes an issue number on the back.
