Parrot Fish (Budai) - Gyotaku Print - Traditional Japanese Fish Art

*****(8/14/2015) ALL of our reproduction prints will now be offered as GICLEE prints utilizing high quality, matte ART Paper (similar to watercolor paper) and archival inks!!*****

Gyotaku fish reproduction print of the ornately colorful PARROT FISH - called 'Bu-Dai' in Japanese) rubbing, faithful to the original Japanese style of creating memorable prints for the avid fisherman. They are found in warmer, tropical ocean reefs. They get their name from their elaborate color as well as their beak like snout that resembles the tropical birds.

Handsome and would be VERY stunning behind a glass frame on any wall of ones home or office. Most color gyotaku prints are done in the 'indirect' style of printing which is an art form that developed by artists after the initial creation of the gyotaku style. However, this print has been created using the original and traditional 'direct' method (normally monotone) which offers much less control, but very stunning results.

Makes a great gift for that special angler, nature lover or any one who loves fish and appreciates this unique Japanese art form.

Print is 13x19 inches with a one inch border.
