Sculpture- Snake Three

I made this sculpture from a standing dead aspen tree. My goal was to cover the back and sides of the snake with many abstract forms. They are painted on using acrylic paint, airbrush and stencils. The natural color and details of grain show through. The piece is varnished to protect the wood from stains, and the varnish has been abraded to make a very matte finish. This piece is intended as a wall sculpture. It has two d-ring hangers, allowing it to be hung at angles appropriate to its setting. These snakes are all different; I choose the tree by hiking in the woods near my cabin. The trees can have relatively straight or relatively curvy.
