The Gaurdians Log Twin Bed

I raised sons, boys, now grown. Both became Eagle Scouts, both were rough and tumble, both loved the outdoors. I envisioned a bed that they could sleep in each night over which presided two bears, the Gaurdians of their slumber, reminding them of the outdoors they learned to love and the nature that provided their every need.

This is a Standard TWIN BED and the entire bed (aside from the stone painting) is of eastern white cedar. The bears are chainsaw carved and are each unique and strong in their presence. The stone was quarried locally in Lancaster County (PA) and is 2" thick. It has an original painting symbolizing the cave paintings uncovered in Lascaux, France. The footboard is simple rail design to not detract from the headboard. The bed is 5 pieces in total : headboard, footboard, 2 rails and a bottom platform.

The finish is simply linseed oil with several coats of beeswax. The stone is covered with polyurethane to protect the artwork.

In truth this bed was built with an 8 year-old child in mind, and designed to provide comfort in slumber knowing the two regal bears were watching over them thru the night. The cave painting is meant to evoke a raw connection to nature, long ago ignored by most of us but there for those that will look.

It is a rustic design and meant to invoke feelings of comfort for the one sleeping in its hold.
