Entry Hutch

This lead came from my brother, who knew a great young family looking for a purposeful piece of furniture to "unclutter" their living room from the backpacks and school papers of their 3 young children. The piece would also serve as the docking station for mobile electronics and a place to hold and organize the mail. Adding to the challenge, it needed to be beautiful enough to be displayed as the first piece of furniture to be seen as you enter the front door. The design we came up with would designate one locker and one paper slot for each child to store their backpacks and papers. The center shelf would be the charging station, and the top would be a place for showcasing pictures or perhaps a vase of flowers. There is also a drawer for storing keys, or other small things. The mail organizer is free standing and could be placed anywhere. The cabinet is made from Cherry hardwood with some birdseye maple nosing. The carcase is made from cabinet grade cherry plywood.
