Made to order-This is a customizable console table or writing desk made from reclaimed New Orleans homes. The bottom shelf is removable and can be added to your order depending how you'd like to use the table. It is an additional $50. Please specify when ordering.
The table top is made from wood known as barge board. Its history dates back to 1803 after the United States purchased Louisiana and New Orleans. After the purchase Americans along the East Coast began to steadily migrate in to New Orleans. They built barges and floated them down river. Once here, they took apart their barges and used the wood to build their new homes.
The table's wrought iron legs are welded from the original balcony railing of a Greek Revival style home in the historic Garden District. This 1860s home fell into disrepair and its ornate victorian style railings were removed. The rusted brown patina of these rails pair beautifully with its distressed wooden top.
Tables can be customized to different sizes and prices may vary. The table shown measures 60" long x 14" deep x 31" high.
