"Timeless Flight"

Located in the Jory Restaurant at the Allison Hotel and Spa in Newberg, OR, "Timeless Flight" is a site specific glass, metal and wood wall sculpture that makes reference to the Allison on many levels. The primary design motif is like a stylized aerial view of the hotel and its three wings with the blue disk implying the round spiral staircase. The surrounding vineyards are suggested by rows of parallel lines. The rectangular glass panels framed with local cherry branches pay tribute to the significance of the Willamette Valley's agriculture and the rich soil deposited by the glacial backwater floodplain Lake Allison, formed 10,000 years ago. The textured molds used to shape the glass were made by casting water formed ripples on a sandy river bank. The colors and patterns in the glass evoke feelings of glaciers, layers of top soil, outcroppings and the movement of the earth over time. The work has an overall floating uplifting presence that evokes a sense motion over time. "Timeless Flight" 20' x 10'
