"A LOVE STORY" For my Father & Mother's 50th Wedding Anniversary, we decided to do a full wedding. They got married on the front porch of a house at an early age during the Depression years & Mom had always wished she had been able to have a "real" wedding. Dad only had 8% heart pumpage & we knew he might not make it til the date, but we continued on. Media from all over the area did huge write ups, then tv and radio stations caught it when it went from local to world wide headline news: television stations & a world wide TV host called & wanted to cover the wedding. It was being announced on radio stations out of state. It blew our minds: they called it "Second Chances ". Decisions were made & we kept it private due to Dad's health. It was beautiful & my model for this dress is taken from that occasion, my Mom. Dad died just a couple of months later, but he & Mom spent much of those last weeks enjoying memories of their Wedding Day.

This dress was designed from an era when wedding dresses were full of poof, beads, flowing satin, & see thru cutouts adorned with galloon laces; much like those worn only by princesses.
If you ever thought of doing this very thing, it is never too late. It was well worth our efforts. Dad knew it would take all his strength to do this, but he said it was his last gift to Mom.
