I needed a mantel that was just so wide, deep and thick and found it here. It could not have been easier to order. Then the day came when it arrived. I could not believe how well packaged it was. In fact, it was so well packaged, it was hard to open the box. there was the cardboard outer, a masonite inner, with a foam and styrofoam sheet inside. Needless to say, the mantel came totally undamaged. After unpacking, it was so easy to install. I do have to say that it does not come with all necessary tools so those without special bits on drill drivers, you may have to go to the hardware store. Fortunately, I had the right bit needed to screw the ledger to the wall studs. Not a big expense, but could have been included with the installation package. It would have been a nuisance to have to go to the hardware store just to get the right bit. I do have one piece of advice on the package. Where the final three screws go to attach the mantel to the ledger, the mantel could have been pre-countersunk so that the screw would sit flush or below flush to the surface so that the stick-on wood covers can be installed without additional work on the part of the new owner. In my case, I saw that the predrilled holes needed to be countersunk, and I had the tool, so it was not a problem. Still, some buyers who do not have a contractor/installer could use, the help. Overall, the few criticisms I have are easily resolved. Please do not interpret these comments as negatives. They are just meant to help make a very good produce even better. I would not have mentioned these issues, but feel that this is valuable feedback to the makers that would greatly improve the buyer's experience at negligible cost to the supplier. Thanks. Great product. I am very happy with it.
