Fused Glass Table Sculpture - Year Of The Dragon

This piece features a technique which requires the glass to be brought up to 1700 degrees. When the glass is in a near molten stage, I open the kiln and draw a metal rake across the surface of the glass creating the swirling movement you see in the dragon. I used the raked glass as the focal point of the larger fused glass piece. It includes a variety of glass including dichroic and iridescent. The fused glass is framed with copper which is formed around the piece and then securely set in a slate base which is framed in mahogany.
