It's a pleasure to build a piece then have it stay in the neighborhood. I built this small chest for a good family friend. I have visiting rights.
With every commission there are usually a couple givens. For this chest it was its final location. The location dictates the dimensions as did the functional aspects that were required.
I had a couple ideas, but this design grew off the drawing board. I laid-out the rough dimensions, to scale, then connected the dots with curves. The idea for the slats and the curved bonnet came from a shelf I had made for our home.
The hinged wings, the divided drawers and the slide-out at the waist make storing and selecting very convenient.
Dimensions: 23"wide x 49"high x 14"deep
