Raspberry Necklace featuring one of my realistic handmade glass raspberry beads, accented by my handmade glass leaves in several shades of green and hung on your choice of Sterling Silver or 14/20 Gold-Filled figure-eight chain. Your necklace will be carefully packed in natural white cotton inside a free glossy black paper gift box with gold bow.
The single red raspberry bead on this necklace will be about 16-18mm high. Each cell has a slight vertical indentation and the surface of the raspberry has a soft matte finish.
The overall length is 20 inches, but you can wear it anywhere between 17 inches and 19 inches by clipping the lobster clasp into the link of your choice. If you are petite, you can select the option to have the necklace made an inch shorter. That way the necklace is 19 inches overall, with the raspberry centered at the 17" length. In the picture where the necklace is shown on a mannequin, the necklace is clipped at 17 inches.
The Nature of Mother Nature
Almost nothing in nature is completely round, smooth or even, so I avoid making my glass fruit and leaves too perfectly. I put on splotches and speckles, make them a tidbit lopsided, and add other imperfections so that each berry or leaf is unique. This makes them look much more "real".
Process and Materials:
I make each glass raspberry and leaf by the lampwork process, melting glass rods in the flame of a torch. The raspberry beads are made once cell at a time, and I give each cell the slight vertical dimple you'd see on a real raspberry. No two are ever exactly alike. Then I matte the surface so that the raspberry bead has a soft sheen like real raspberries do. The oils from your skin will enhance this sheen. I coax various shades of pink from the glass by selective heating and cooling. Because no paint has been used to make these glass fruits, the colors will never rub, flake or chip off.
The photos above are representative of the glass fruit necklaces I make in this style. The necklace you receive will be similar to, but not exactly the same as, the one shown above. There will be some minor variations in the shape, size and color patterns of each berry and leaf.
