I use the technique cloisonné enamel to make the ladybug in this designer pendant. It entails carefully bending pure silver ribbons of wire and fusing them to a pure silver surface with clear enamel. The following layers of enamel are colored and can take up to 15 applications and firings in a kiln. After all the firings are complete the enamel bug is sanded down so the wires are flush to the glass. The jewel then gets sanded to a high polish, which gives it a gorgeous effect of depth and translucency. After that, it is bezel set in a handcrafted sterling silver textured and embellished setting. The technique is quite labor intensive but the results are a magical beautiful piece of finely handcrafted jewelry. The pendant comes with a sterling rounded box chain measuring 16" or 18".
